My mini dell laptop says I am connected to my wireless connection but I can't get online..can u help?

Its say Im connected o my wireless network but when I click internet explorer it won't go inline so I can't surf the web. it says "internet explorer cannot display webpage" But I am connected and the signal is strong. can someone pls help me? dell charges over $100.00 to help and thats jus ridiculous!
