Google is redirecting me to ad sites?

I can go to google.com and type in and search for anything, but once I click a link, any link at all, I am redirected to some sort of ad site or other strange sites that I was not looking for. I have an hp and use internet explorer 9. If anyone could help, it'd be greatly appreciated, as this is becoming an issue. Thank you.
