Maple Story help with character creating?

Ok so I installed Maple Story, downloaded it and everything! But when I choose a place to explore and a channel it sends to choosing a character. Well I dont have any characters to choose from so I click on create a character. Every time I try to creat a character by clicking on a explorer, hero, etc. it just goes black then closes. The computer goes back to its home screen and i dont understand why! Could someone help me? Thank you
