Do I have to upgrade my browser?

I have explorer 8, and now it wants me to upgrade. I did upgrade to explorer 9, but I did not like it and had to system restore to get rid of it. Now it is saying on youtube that it does not support me. Will this effect me in any way if I do not upgrade? I want to stay with explorer 8
