I'm playing a game on facebook called N.O.V.A. Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance: ELITE but is there a virus on it?

No, either your computer HAS gotten a virus from the game (which I doubt, FB is rather safe) or else the game requires a lot of processing to play, and slows things down which would make Internet Explorer unresponsive.
