Help computer wont open anything!?

My computer will not open any programs such as mozilla, volume, Back up and restore and programs that have to do with the internet pretty much but it will open skype, windows media player and internet explorer. Now when i put the computer in safe mode with networking everything will work I am not sure if this is a virus or just a problem with my computer. Please help me my os is Vista btw.
